1G - definition

1G refers to 1st generation wireless mobile communication standard. 1G was the analog voice communication standard and later got replaced by 2G which is a digital voice communication standard. The only main difference between 1G and 2G is that 1G was analog networks and 2G is a completely digital network, although both systems use digital sampling to connect the dedicated radio towers to the rest of the telephone system.
